Our Story

How Our Story Began

In 1993, International Bar Coding began providing the wood products industry with custom traceability solutions including barcoded labels, software, and best-in-class printer applicators designed specifically to withstand rugged environments.

Expanding to Other Industries

By the early 2000s, food traceability was becoming a serious issue as consumers and retailers demanded more transparency and accountability for the food they were eating. IBC was uniquely positioned to help and began adapting their products and services to create custom printer applicators, labels, tags, and other traceability solutions for the food and beverage industry.

Over the years, International Bar Coding developed a depth of experience in a broad range of industries including consumer packaged goods, retail, fruit & vegetables, and regulated products like beer, wine, and cannabis.

Growing Out of Our Home

For the past 15 years, IBC has been working from their 2,000 square foot home in Penticton’s industrial area to provide labels, tags, printers, printer applicators, scanners, software, mobile computers, barcodes, RFID tags, and more for a variety of industries.

With boxes piled to the ceiling, they looked around and realized the roof was going to come off if they didn’t do something!

In April of this year, they broke ground on a brand new 13,000 square foot building in Satikw Crossing.

With expanded production capacity and manufacturing space, a brand-new printing press with increased speed and printing capabilities, larger sales offices, and (best of all) a new lunchroom, International Bar Coding will be ready to serve their clients both locally and internationally.

The official opening is scheduled for September 2020. Stay tuned!
